Merit Skills are pleased to report that they have successfully completed their first eight EUSR recognised Trench Safety and Support training courses. Courses for both operators and supervisors have be well attended by a mixture of utility company and civil engineering candidates. Operators are taught to recognise the risks in a variety of excavation situations and apply a range of different safety solutions. They are given the skills to use traditional timber, steel sheet and hydraulic proprietary trench support systems. Whilst supervisors are given the skills and knowledge to recognise situations requiring intervention, to specify solutions and ensure that structures are installed and maintained correctly.
The successful candidates have had their achievement recognised by EUSR and the qualification added to their cards.
Employers can have confidence that their people have had comprehensive training and have demonstrated their skills and knowledge on the subject against standards recognized by the Sector Skills Council.
