This training course is aimed at water industry non-operational staff who would benefit from gaining an understanding of the processes involved in treating water for drinking purposes

Objectives

By the end of this course the participants will be able to:

  • Describe the differing sources from which water is abstracted for drinking purposes
  • List the different substances and contaminants that need to be removed from water
  • Describe in simple terms the different processes involved in the water treatment and conditioning process
  • Recognise the main components of treatment works
Method

The course consists of mainly classroom based activities. Where appropriate in can be coupled with visits to operational treatment works
