This course provides the skills and knowledge required to carry out installation of barrier pipes in accordance with WIS 4-32-19 April 2009: Issue 2.

Objectives

By the end of this course the participants will be able to:

  • State the differences between type A and type B, PE/AL/PE barrier pipe systems
  • Identify the correct fittings for the type of pipe selected to meet WRAS requirements
  • Demonstrate correct pipe preparation and jointing techniques for fusion welding of PE/AL/PE barrier pipes in accordance with WIS 4-32-08
  • Demonstrate correct mechanical jointing and connection methods for PE/AL/PE barrier pipes including installation of fluid compression fittings
  • Demonstrate the knowledge required to install PE/AL/PE barrier pipes
Method

A mixture of classroom and practical activities, with practical competency and written knowledge assessments.

Pre Course Requirements

Learners must be fully conversant with standard PE jointing techniques. Delegates should come equipped with PPE including foot, head, eye protection plus gloves and overalls.
