Water Networks NVQ Level 3 Leakage Control

This qualification is completed using an Eportfolio system over the duration of 18 - 24 months

The level 3 Leakage control NVQ comprises nine units of which five are mandatory and one further unit is chosen from an option of four. The qualification is designed for leakage staff carrying out higher level leakage activities as described below. Optional units are denoted (O)

Objectives

By the end of this course the participants will be able to:

  • Evaluate data to identify potential leakage
  • Determine leakage control methods and techniques in response to water loss
  • Programme deploy and collect data from data-logging equipment
  • Utilise and confirm performance of measuring equipment on the water distribution network
  • Provide leadership for their team (O)
  • Establish the integrity of Distribution Zones and District Metered Areas (O)
  • Carry out step testing activities (O)
  • Resolve leakage related issues with customers (O)
  • Work in a safe and hygienic manner
Method

Following a classroom based induction the candidate will be assessed in the workplace during normal water network leakage activities and assisted in producing a portfolio of workplace evidence

Pre Course Requirements

Learners should be carrying out higher level leakage activities in the workplace.
