This course is designed to provide the Learners with the skills and knowledge to locate and control leakage on water distributions systems.

Objectives

  • Explain the different causes of leakage on networks
  • Identify and designate sluice valves as boundary valves
  • Interpret measured night flows
  • Select meters suitable for district metering
  • Prove soundness of a DMA
  • Design a step test
  • Carry out a step test
  • Recognise and control operational risks associated with leakage control activities
  • Use a leak noise correlator to pinpoint leakage
  • Explain the legal and company position with regard to supply pipe ownership and responsibility for leakage
  • Use sounding devices to pinpoint leakage
