This course is aimed at water industry technicians requiring the necessary skills and knowledge to clean water mains by flushing.

Objectives

By the end of this course the participants will be able to:

  • Describe the different causes of dirty water
  • Explain the advantages and disadvantages of the available cleansing techniques
  • Identify suitable flushing points to suitable for the main requiring attention
  • Create a schedule of operations that will ensure selected zone is thoroughly flushed
  • Assess the risks associated with flushing operations and put in place controls to minimize
  • Explain the considerations required with regard to flow, pressure and velocity of water
  • Carry out all operations safely and hygienically
Method

The course will consist of a mixture of classroom based tuition and practical exercises.
