Competence of staff in organisations is critical for business success. This is magnified in highly regulated industries where lack of competence can have serious affects on customer service, company image and missed targets.

This training course provides the skills and knowledge required to put in place a framework of defined competencies, against which people and activities can be accurately, consistently and objectively measured.

Objectives

By the end of this course the participants will be able to:

  • Recognise the benefits of using bespoke competencies
  • Outline the advantages of objective measurement over subjective opinion
  • Explain the key components of competence
  • Define the key competencies for given roles or activities
  • Detail the indicators of each competency using appropriate and measurable terminology
  • Explain the different ways competencies can be used to improve performance of individuals and businesses
  • Explain different strategies for developing competency frameworks in their own organisations
Method

This is a classroom based workshop that uses a mixture of trainer lead activities and presentation. Exercises using examples from existing frameworks will be used to support learning.
