This training course aims to provide learners with basic skills and knowledge of electrical theory and concepts as well as an understanding of electrical machine operation and isolation requirements of electrical plant for mechanical work.

  • Requirements of Electricity at Work Regulations and dangers of electricity
  • Electrical safe systems of work including practical isolation exercises
  • Electrical circuit theory and practical use of measuring instruments
  • Low voltage equipment including switchgear and protective devices
  • Requirements of BS7671:2008 (2011)
  • Single and three phase motors and associated starters
  • Soft start and inverter drives
  • Battery systems
  • Photovoltaic energy sources and inverters
  • Practical connection and verification of motor cabling
  • Practical exercises in testing of circuits
  • Exercises in basic electrical fault finding
