This confined space training course aims to provide learners with skills and knowledge necessary to manage confined spaces activities and the people involved in them

Objectives

By the end of this confined space course the participants will be able to:

  • Describe the components and constituents that make a confined space

  • Describe the potential hazards and hazardous situations that may arise in confined spaces

  • Outline the national classification of confined spaces

  • Carry out a risk assessment and outline a safe system of work for working in confined spaces

  • Explain how permit systems are used for confined space entry

  • Describe the selection and use and operation of the typical items of protection and safety equipment employed for work in confined spaces

  • Outline the competency and qualification equipments for those working in confined spaces

  • Describe typical emergency situations and the response procedures and techniques available

  • Explain health and fitness requirements for those working in confined spaces

Method

A classroom based training course using a mixture of trainer presentation and desk top exercises. Practical exercises using confined spaces can be incorporated where required
