This course is designed to provide the necessary skills and knowledge to enable learners to recognise where permits are necessary and to be able to complete and issue the permits

Objectives

By the end of the session the learners will be able to:

  • Interpret their company’s procedure of issuing and controlling permits

  • Identify hot working activities when a permit will be required

  • Carry out an ‘on the job’ risk assessment of hot work activities

  • Issue and control permits

  • Ensure that safe systems of work are in place

  • Ensure that adequate provision has been made to deal with emergencies

  • Recognise the limitations of their own abilities

  • Use the appropriate documentation, including additional permits, site authorisation, handover/hand-back

A mixture of classroom based tuition, exercises and activities
